Food.Fun.Stuff: Julia Child's Kitchen on Display
Two more days. Two more days until another birthday approaches and Julie & Julia comes out in theaters. Quiet as kept, the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History has Julia Child's kitchen from her Cambridge, Massachusetts home on display. This new-found knowledge shows us just how out of touch we are with the museums in the District. Had we known all along that this kitchen was on display since 2002, we would've made this trek at least once on our foodie journey. Lucky for us, its not too late. The exhibit just expanded to add Julia's copper pots and memorabilia from Julie & Julia.
Visitors have reportedly said the kitchen is pretty modest considering the caliber of Julia Child's cooking skills. One would think that she would've had the most prim and proper kitchen on the block, but she like most folks, had a kitchen refrigerator filled with magnets. How reassuring is that?? We are working on the launch of a JKGF cooking inspired show and have stressed about how ancient our kitchen seems which wouldn't be suitable for television. Now we know there's a shot at success with our old kitchen and are even more anxious for taping to begin. Wish us luck and check out the exhibit;-)
