Drinks on Me: Homemade Coffee Liqueur (Alcoholic)
Homemade Coffee Liqueur
1 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups water
1/2 cup instant coffee
1/5 vodka
1/2 vanilla bean or 2 tbsp. vanilla extract
Combine the sugars and water. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Gradually stir in coffee. Cool, pour into a glass jug. Add in the vanilla and vodka. Mix thoroughly. Cover and let stand for @ least 3 weeks (*the longer the better). Remove the vanilla bean. Serve over ice cubes.
*Johnna's tip: Three long weeks. Based on the fact that this will be one of the longest cooking processes you'll have in life, be careful to make sure you get it right the first time. This recipe is for the person who is looking for that perfect coffee liqueur made from their own kitchen. Tastes good when lightly drizzled over ice cream or when served on the rocks;-)
