Food.Fun.Stuff: Weekly Minutes
What did we miss?? Apparently, a lot happens when you're gone for a week. This week the District has been buzzin' with all kinds of new foodie events, deals and happenings. Where shall we start??...
>Kids eat FREE tommorrow (June 10, 2009) @ California Tortilla...that is, after you purchase one adult entree for each free kids meal;-)
> The Washington Post's Reliable Source column did a feature on where the Obama's have gone to eat in the District. The article found there's a pattern of deliberate and politically aware choices to the Obama's dining options. We know we're late, but it's worth checking out if you haven't already skimmed thru it;-) Check it here.
>Juicy Fruit- The good folks of The Pink Line Project are always shooting over new and interesting artsy events, and now here's one with food. The "Not From Concentrate: A Juicy Art Exhibit" merges tunes, sips and vegan eats alongside some interesting juicy art.
The Where: Hounshell, 1506 14th st., NW Washington, D.C.
The When: Saturday, June 20, 2009 6 pm-8 pm
Sounds like fun with vegan treats and freshly squeezed fruit!
>Whiskey Week!- Calling all whiskey lovers. Founding Farmers introduces Rye Whiskey exclusively hand crafted by Wasmund's. This week, join FF as they uncap the newest spirit to it's already massive liquour cabinet. Tonight join in on the party as Justin Guthrie, formerly of Central, as he mixes up his very own FF Rye cocktail recipe.
*The parties happening all week long, for more info call (202) 822-8783 or reserve a table here.
>Still looking for something to do on the 4th.?? Well if you're into the history of the holiday (*and not just in it for the burgers and fireworks...), then you might enjoy an evening @ 2941 where they will be displaying two examples of the Declaration of Independence. Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel will create a 3-course prix-fixe menu @ a price of $58 per person (*A la carte will be available too) and Sommelier Stefano Cappelli will be showcasing his skills with selections from some of Virginia's most notable vineyards.
>JKGF wants to congratulate this year's RAMMY winners! Restaurant Eve took home Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year, Marcel/Brasserie Beck executive chef Robert Wiedmaier took home Chef of the Year and New Restaurant of the Year went to Cork...Congrats to All!
