Food.Fun.Stuff: Welcome to Eatonville

The owner of Busboys and Poets is doing it to us again...bringing good food and culture to the D.C. urban life. The opening of Eatonville, a southern-food eatery named after the hometown of Harlem Renaissance icon Zora Neale Hurston, is slated to open sometime soon...(*We know, we know...not having the exact date is nagging us to, but we will find out soon!) The restaurant will be opening across the street from The Flats @ Union Row (*which is across the street from the original Busboys and Poets on U st.) @ 2021 14th. st., NW, Washington, D.C. Andy Shallal, the owner of Busboys and Poets and Luna Grill and Diner, has taken a unique approach to finding just the right chef for his team. He has created a spin on the hit series "Top Chef" and had his top candidates compete in a week-long competition to see who would retrieve the golden prize of a job equipped with a $75k salary. With over 200 entries for this one spot, we are interested to see who takes the prize home and who's going to whipping up those cool southern dishes for the good folks of Washington?? Guess we'll all have to wait and see;-)

More details on the opening date to come...
